IICRC AI Use Policy: Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) on IICRC standards and related intellectual property is prohibited. Violations will result in suspension of access. IICRC prohibits the entry of its standards and related intellectual property (IP) into any form of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT. Additionally, creating derivatives of IICRC published and draft standards using AI is also prohibited. If a licensee violates this AI Use Policy, IICRC will suspend their access to its intellectual property, and further legal action will be considered. This policy ensures that AI is not used to redistribute or create new, non-compliant versions of IICRC’s copyrighted work.

The intention of the ANSI/IICRC S410 Standard for Professional Cleaning of the Built Environment for Infection Prevention and Control is to build on the routine cleaning practices discussed in the ANSI/IICRC S400 - 2025 Standard for Professional Cleaning, Maintenance, and Restoration of the Commercial Built Environment, and provide users with processes to enhance routine cleaning practices using infection control measures in order to decrease exposure risk to germs and pathogens. The S410 Standard focuses on the infection prevention and control principles and methods to establish processes to clean, sanitize, disinfect, evaluate, and maintain the built environment.

It addresses how to enhance routine cleaning processes to decrease exposure risks to microorganisms that are classified as Bio Safety Risk Groups 1 and 2, but not Bio Safety Risk Groups 3 and 4, and increase confidence through consistent optimal outcomes during outbreak or crisis events. Further, this Standard focuses on cleaning that results in a hygienically clean outcome with results that can be measured.

The S410 Standard includes all buildings, private or public, that are not licensed healthcare or agricultural facilities (e.g., vivariums) and is intended for anyone who prescribes or performs cleaning of the built (indoor) environments and may be referenced by regulatory bodies. This includes but is not limited to cleaning technicians and cleaning operations who clean residential properties, schools, assemblies, and community living facilities, group homes, commercial property, and facility managers. Cleaning operations is inclusive of in-house or contract services.
